My (recent) life in pictures

You can tell that I'm working full time now can't you, I don't seem to have much spare time to blog anymore.

I keep getting told my blog needs more photo's, so here they are in abundance. I feel they speak for themselves.

24

Does anyone in S'toon have the first season of 24? So many people are raving about it, but I have never seen it as we always seem to be out when it's on. So does anyone want to lend me it?

Stupid title

Sorry I just COULDN'T be bothered to think of a title, who really cares anyway.

Life is carrying on as normal, with little disruptions like L having to work 7.20am to 5.30pmish, whish is leaving him a tad tired.

I went to my first Gymblast yesterday, which was NUTS. Fun, NOISY, and completely chaotic .... it was great. If you want to learn more about Saskatoon YFC go here www.yfcsask.com The guys here are all nuts, but nice and fun. I am very glad that Lindsay is friends with Greg and Daryl (see the staff page for pics), I think that has helped us in this little transition. I am very excited about the fact that my friend Kristin, will start working for YFC in March... there is too much testosterone in this office right now! LOL!

It is freaking me out right now, that a lot of my married friends over here, are in 1 of 3 transitional stages where kids are concerned. They are either trying to get pregnant, are pregnant or just had a baby. Now we have no plans to have children yet, unless God has other plans. But I can't help getting broody sometimes, which I think scares L a little. I have this fear that we will forever be thinking 'sometime in the future children would be nice', but never actually get there. Especially as whenever we get on a plane there is always a nightmare child. And as we will be visiting the UK whenever possible, I have nightmares about how we will cope with a screaming child for 24hrs of travelling.

It is unseasonally warm here right now, +5, but it still gets down to -7 at night. While driving to work this morning, I was trying to work out which is more annoying; the awful slushy roads which never seem to dry out, OR the horrible crunchy slippy roads first thing in the morning. The joys of living in the prairies.

Time flies

I started my new job at YFC on the 11th of January and life has been fun ever since! I'm feeling quite settled already, and quite enjoy most of it. I would still really appreciate prayer for us while we raise support, and as I take on the roles my job requires. We would also really appreciate prayer for Lindsay and where he's meant to be.

I am excited as I see God move around me. I hear so many more stories of God, now that I am at YFC, it is really inspiring to hear how the Lord has transformed young peoples lives, and how zealous those young people become for God. Please pray for this ministry that I have become a part of, that we would do the Lords will, and be focused on HIM.

God Bless

Arrived home (finally)

I really don't enjoy all the travelling to and fro between the UK and Canada, but the journey back to Canada this time was definately the worst.

Saturday morning we were woken early by heavy winds, and looking out of the bedroom window showed damage to neighbouring houses and gardens. This made us a little nervous about our flight being delayed, so we were happy when we arrived at the airport to discover that our flight to Amsterdam was on time. However, when we were checking in our bags, we were informed that our flight from Amsterdam to Minniapolis was delayed until Sunday morning and that we would be put up in a hotel for the night, but that we wouldn't be able to retrieve any toiletries or nightwear now that our bags were checked in...yay (not).

The hotel in Amsterdam was really nice with good food, so we were happy that at least our stay would be comfortable. The airline provided us with some basic toiletries and a change of socks, so I didn't feel as skanky as I might have done.

Sunday morning arrived and we left Amsterdam with no hassles. At the other end we arrived at 11.30am, we were given boarding passes for our flight to Saskatoon, which didn't leave til 9pm. So with 9 hours to pass by we went to the Mall of America which is just a 10 minute metro ride from the airport. We really didn't do much there except to eat and wander around. There was a cheerleader competition on there, so there seemed to a million cheerleaders milling around.

We finally arrived safe and sound in Saskatoon at 11.30pmish to find that it was -30 (YIKES)

We're both still a little fuzzy with jet lag, but glad to be back.

I'll be putting photos up soon from Christmas.

Having your cake and eating it.

We are loving being in the UK.

L is enjoying the break, while I am catching up on all the news, and being sentimental.

I have been asking God why the UK has to be so flipping far away from Canada. I am starting to feel more at home in Canada, but being back home is reminding me even more how much I love England....big Fat PANTS!

Don't worry I'll get over it, I know that God is always right in His plans. And don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to getting back to S'toon and my new job...I just like having my cake and eating it...that's all;-)

Happy Christmas Everyone!

Well I am definately in the Christmas mood. We celebrated Christmas yesterday with L's family, it was great, we had loads of fun, Daniel and Steven (our nephews) are a joy to be around.

I (finally) made my decision about where I will be working in January, it was a tough decision because I had a couple of good job offers. We prayed about it and L & I felt that, as a family, Youth For Christ was where we should be. I am so grateful that the Lord blessed me with a loving man of God for a husband. I want to thank everyone who prayed for and with us on this matter, please continue keeping us in prayer as we start raising support.

Well I need to go and pack now to go home!!!! YAY!!! So excited, not looking forward to the journey tho...hate airports! But we should be with my family in 48hrs time....SO GOOD.

Cleaning frenzy

Am I glad that we're finished, I spent the last 2 days cleaning our apartment out. Thankfully I have great friends so Kristin P and Dawn G came over and helped me the whole time! To be honest we did talk a lot too, but that's what made it bearable. So our apartment is empty and spotless......PHEW!

Now we just have to pack and go.....WOOOOOOHOOOOOO

But this weekend should be good, we have L's work do Saturday evening and our christmas with the immediate Unger side on Sunday.

An all time record

We have actually finished all the christmas shopping!!! We pur-chased our final gifts on Saturday....actually that is a slight lie, we still have my sis's boyf to buy for, but I'm actually gonna get her to do that as we've never met him and have no idea what he would like...so we have finished all our shopping.

I am actually not as excited about going home right now, as L thought I would be, I'm like a rollercoaster, I get hyper, then get distracted by other things (like moving). But when I actually do think about it, I get excited by chip butties and gravy, mums roast, the Masham with Dad, one of Han's fried egg sarnies, a walk on Saltburn pier/beach, the flashing dancefloor in the Keys, TOTP special on Christmas day, Enders'/Corrie Christmas specials, midnight communion on Christmas eve, the BBC in general....ALL GOOD!!!!! WE'RE GOING HOME!!!!!

We have snow now, and it's been down to -20, knew the nice weather wouldn't last, but I keep reminding myself it could be worse. I'm praying that if it gets down to -50 with the wind chill, that I won't get locked out of my home this year.
